Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari
Synopsis: The four cardinal heroes are a group of ordinary men from modern Japan summoned to the kingdom of Melromarc to become their saviors. Melromarc is a country tormented by the waves of catastrophe that repeatedly devastated the earth and brought disasters to its citizens for centuries. The four heroes are respectively a sword, throw, arc and shield to defeat these waves. Nonfumi Iwatani, an otaku, is cursed with the fate of being the "hero of the shield." Armed with only one meager shield, Nonfumi is overlooked and ridiculed by his companions heroes and the people of the kingdom due to their weak offensive abilities and dull personality.
When the heroes receive resources and comrades to train, Náfumi proposes with the only person willing to train alongside him, Malty Melromarc. He is soon betrayed by her, however, and becomes falsely accused of enjoying her. Nonfumi then was discriminated against and hated by the people of Melromarc for something he did not do. With a furious storm of hurt and distrust in his heart, Náfumi begins his journey of strengthening himself and his reputation. Further on, however, the difficulty of being on their own sets, so Nonofumi buys a Demi-Human slave on the edge of death called Raphtalia to accompany him on his trips.
As the waves approach the kingdom, nonfumu and raphtalia must fight for the survival of the kingdom and protect the people from Melromarc from their unfortunate future.

- Original Light Novel author Aneko Yusagi began writing the story as a hobby in 2012 and published it online on a Japanese self -publishing site. The popularity of history grew rapidly and in 2013 it was officially published in book format.
