Synopsis: The story of Souten Kouro is vaguely based on events that take place in three kingdoms of China during the life of the last Chancellor of the East Dynasty Han, Cao Cao (155 - March 15, 220), which also serves as the main character.
The period of the three kingdoms has been a popular theme in the Japanese manga for decades, but Souten Kouro differs greatly from most others at various points. A significant difference is the highly positive portrait of his main character, Cao Cao, which is traditionally the antagonist not only in Japanese manga, but also in most new versions of the three kingdoms period, including the original fourth century version, romance of the Three kingdoms by Luo Guanzhong. Another significant difference from others is that the plot uses mainly the original historical account of the time, records of three kingdoms of Chen Shou, as a reference and not the aforementioned novel of the novel of the three kingdoms. With this, the traditional hero of the novel of the three kingdoms, Liu Bei, assumes relatively less importance within history and is portrayed in a less positive light.
