Synopsis: On the outskirts of the country of Helvetia, it rests on the quiet city of grasping. In the streets of cobblestone, citizens follow their daily lives, without disturbing the increasingly tense military relations between Helvetia and the neighboring Roman Empire.
It is under these circumstances that the 1121st Platoon of the Helvetian Army, parked at the Fortress of the Clock, receives a new recruit in the young and excited Kanata Sorami. Having joined the Armed Forces to fulfill her dream of learning to play the horn, she accepts the protection of the sergeant, Rio Kazumiya, who happens to be a skilled trumpeter. Working alongside them are the distant mechanic, Noël Kannagi, the great scorer, Kureha Suminoya and the compassionate captain Felicia Heideman; Together, they experience the beauty of life in grasping and the lasting joy of a persevering community, despite the ruined world around them.
