Synopsis: "Mushi": the most basic life forms in the world. They exist without goals or purposes, and simply "being". They are beyond the shackles of the words "good" and "evil". Mushi can exist in countless ways and is able to imitate things from the natural world, such as plants, disease and even phenomena such as arc -omic arc.

This is, however, only a vague definition of these entities that inhabit the vibrant world of Mushishi, to call them in a way of life would be an excessive simplification. Detailed information about Mushi is scarce because most human beings are unaware of their existence.

So what are Mushi and why do they exist? This is the question that a “Mushishi”, Ginko, constantly ponders. Mushishi are those who research Mushi in hopes of understanding their place in the hierarchy of life in the world.

Ginko pursues rumors of occurrences that could be linked to Mushi, all to find an answer.

After all, it could lead to the meaning of life itself.
