Synopsis: Yukito Kunisaki is on a journey in search of the winged maiden who was linked to the sky centuries ago, after hearing an old childhood tale of her mother. While Yukito shows his puppet show to people in an attempt to earn some money, he is in a small town where he didn't expect to stay long. However, when he meets an unusual girl named Misuzu, things give a drastic turn when he is invited to stay with her.
By staying in the picturesque city, Yukito soon becomes friends with the local inhabitants. As he knows them better, he learns about his problems and decides to help, placing his search for the winged maiden on hold. With her search in wait, and her growing attachment to Misuzu and the small town, will Yukito find the winged maiden, or is she closer than he thought?

Summary and events
- Yukito Kunisaki is a traveler who arrives in a small town in search of the "girl in the sky", a mythical figure that his mother always mentioned. He survives by performing puppet tricks for local children.
- Yukito meets Misuzu Kamio, an eccentric and cheerful girl who invites him to stay at her house. She lives with her aunt, Haruko Kamio. Misuzu has strange dreams and a condition that makes her cry for no reason.
- Yukito and Misuzu spend time together, developing a deep bond. Misuzu reveals that she wants to make friends and that she feels alone. Yukito decides to help Misuzu fulfill her wish and finds out more about her condition.

- In the climax, Misuzu, now alone, finally realizes her desire to make friends and be loved. She finds peace before she passes away, reuniting with Yukito spiritually.
